“Community service gives me a valuable opportunity to walk into a different community that is less familiar to me but just as colorful and most importantly, in need.”– Caroline Landry

Abdul Sattar Edhi Saheb was a Pakistani philanthropist, ascetic, and humanitarian who have founded the Edhi Foundation in Pakistan, which runs the world’s largest volunteer ambulance network, along with various homeless shelteres, animal shelters, rehabilitation centres, and orphanages for deserving people. After his death, his son Faisal Edhi took over as head of the Edhi Foundation. He is remembered inside and outside of Pakistan as an ambassador to “true Islam” contrasting him with terrorists that dominate media coverage about Muslims all over the World.

Abdul Sattar Edhi

Edhi Foundation is the single best foundation across Pakistan and one of the best social welfare service providers across the world running on a non-commercial, non-political, and non-communal basis, serving round-the-clock without any discrimination of color, class, and creed.

Edhi did a lot of effort by begging and asking funds from different people on the streets and roads. He used to run the Edhi foundation along with his wife Bilquis Edhi. When he died in 2016, his wife and his son Mr. Faisal Edhi are now running the Edhi foundation.

Edhi Foundation

After the death of Edhi Saheb, the process of funds slows down, causes constraints in the vision of Edhi Saheb. Therefore, Amal Academy have taken initiative to commence a campaign of fund raising for Edhi Foundation. So, Amal Academy have assigned a project to every student to raise the funds for Edhi Foundation in a group.

As a result, we have merged three groups in order to apply the Amal principle of Aik Aur Aik Gyarah. The experience was good but as the pandemic is still going on it is a difficult task. In the first week, It was not so good as we have started collection of funds we clearly rejected by saying that we are already connected with other foundation. We asked individually and then transferred to same account. We have also circulate the poster for fund raising.

Many people are willing to give money but we have to collect it virtually it’s really a difficult task by asking them again and trying hard so they transfer money. The challenge that we faced a lot is that many people said you know it’s a pandemic situation we don’t have lot of money to donate but we said that sir it’s a social cause your penny doesn’t goes waste. And this challenge was overcome little bit. But yes it was very challenging to collect funds. But, we have tried again and again in order to pursue our goal for the social cause.

We never asked for the money before like this many people told us why they can’t transfer and it’s fine but many people didn’t reply it’s really heart breaking but we thanked every one at the end. Yes, we think it really helps to accept failure as I got rejection from our start but then we think it was only one person who said no. Rest of the world also exist and we talked about donations with other people and they helped me. At the end, we think we should always start something with patience.
